BOWLING MATTERS:

Club Competition Finals – Results and Schedule for remaining matches.

Club Finals Results and Scheduled Matches

Tony Cole will be running the short mat leagues again this winter – if you played last season, he has already contacted last year’s managers to see if they want to enter team(s) again, so they should be in touch with you.

If you are new to the club, or didn’t play last year, and would like to play, this is your opportunity to let Tony know.

To give you a few details of what it is about….

  • We knock down the men’s changing room and lay a carpet along the front corridor – the “short mat”
  • We have two leagues – a daytime league and an evening one
  • The matches are pairs games of 18 ends
  • A handicap system is in place to assist new/inexperienced players
  • It is a good fun, but competitive game and allows you to keep your hand in at bowls over the winter
  • There will be ample opportunity for friendly roll-ups/practice alongside the league games
  • There will be an introductory session in early October for those new to the game
  • The leagues will start mid October and run through until mid March
  • All club full and social members are eligible to play, but you must pre-register with Tony to play in the leagues (so that you can be allocated a handicap)

You can get together with others and form yourselves into a new team.  Although only 2 can play at once (as it is a pairs comp), it is recommended you have at least 4 players in your team as fixtures will come thick and fast, particularly in the daytime league, the fixture dates will all be pre-booked on Bowlr to keep rearrangement of games to a minimum.

There are entry forms in the foyer at the club house and attached – all application in by Sunday 27th September please

On the form you can enter a daytime team, an evening team, or both.  Entry fee is £3.00 per team.

Please put completed forms/entry fees in the post box in the foyer – there should be some envelopes near by.

If you want to play, but cannot get a team together yourself, drop an email to Tony at (tonycole57@hotmail.co.uk) or call  07388 396027 saying whether you want to play in the daytime, evening (or both) and he will get you into a team.
