Building for the Future.

The Club Structure Review Team presented their initial recommendations to the Executive Committee on Wednesday. More work needs to be done creating terms of reference for each post but, in principle, the committee accepted the recommended changes. The main features are:

Local governance will be provided by a Board of Directors; the President will be appointed by invitation with an ambassadorial role; a Chairman will be installed to oversee club affairs, chair meetings and draw up long term plans. The Executive Committee will be reduced from 14 to 9 posts with equal emphasis on ‘business’ and ‘bowls’. Two new posts will be created namely a Bowls Secretary who will pull together the various strands of bowling activity and a Marketing Manager will coordinate social media and other means of improving community engagement. The existing Estate Manager post will be divided into a Greens Manager and a Buildings Manager. All critical posts will have a deputy. The title Club Captain will be discontinued and future nominations for Men and Ladies Captain must be accompanied by a Vice Captain to ensure succession planning

The membership will have the opportunity to ratify these changes at an EGM in August and, if agreed, the new posts will be open for nominations at the AGM in November.

In the meantime – Enjoy your Bowls!
