Cheltenham Ladies Festival took place yesterday at Cheltenham Spa where we were up against Bishop’s Cleeve, Tewkesbury and Cheltenham Spa. A great win for the ladies with our team winning overall by over 20 points with Tewkesbury coming 2nd.

County Competitions:
Tuesday 25th August Re-arranged LGL against Coleford (home)
Rich Purser and Colin Carter play the final of Platinum Pairs at Cotswold BC on Sunday the 30th against a pair from Cam Mills.
Angie and Anthony Cotton who are through to the County finals in the Ken Griffen mixed pairs to be played at Cotswold BC on 30th August.
Cheltenham reach the semi final of the County Challenge Cup to be played at Barnwood at 10am on Saturday 5 September. The final will be played in the afternoon.
Cheltenham Ladies and Men reach semi finals of the County Double Rink to be played at Suffolk Square at 10am on Sunday 6 September. The final will be played at the same venue in the afternoon.
Congratulations to Nick and Co who did the NGL Double winning the League and Shield. While not unusual for clubs to do the double it had not been done by CBC since 2012. Pic shows team at NGL Presentation Night.
Whilst the indoor season might still seem a while away we need to decide if we wish to enter a team into the MidGlos Wednesday Evening Interclub league. The plan this season is for there to be two divisions based on how well teams did last year. Each division will have 6 teams so we will play 10 games in total playing every two weeks. Midglos have dropped the rink fees to £2 per match. To make this viable we usually need a squad of players so can you please email Michael Cox at mikeycoxy@gmail.com if you would be interested.
Other matters:
Members wishing to play crib this winter should register their interest with Gill Dorman at gilldorman26@gmail.com. New cribbers welcome. Matches are played on a home/away basis on Thursday evenings at 8pm. Starting September to April.

Obituary
Members will be saddened to learn of the death of Richard Safe a popular social member and member of the 15 What crib team. A funeral service will be held at Cheltenham Crematorium on Tuesday 25 August at 12 noon. Our thoughts are with fellow member Christine and family at this sad time.
