Captains Charity 2026

This year’s Captains Charity is FOCUS based in the Oncology unit at Cheltenham General Hospital. It provides direct supports to local patients with practical/emotional help, and funds vital equipment like scalp coolers for chemotherapy. FOCUS also offers services like wig fitting, complementary therapies, and financial advice, working alongside the NHS to improve the patient environment and provide support from diagnosis through treatment. FOCUS. We all know of someone who has either had or is currently undergoing cancer treatment and so with this in mind the captains have nominated the Cancer Charity FOCUS supporting local cancer care as our chosen charity.  The charity funds a number of projects including:

• Cancer Care through the Focus Support Centre
• Research to improve future patient care
• State-of-the-art equipment such as vein finders, sky ceilings and rise and recline chairs
• Extra support for cancer patients experiencing side effects of treatment
• Specialist cryoablation technology which is benefitting cancer patients in Gloucestershire for the first time.

The charity is funded solely by donations and works alongside the NHS clinical team offering daily support of pre-chemotherapy and pre-radiotherapy information sessions, together with practical and emotional advice to patients, their families and carers. Could all club members please note the collecting box which has been placed on the bar and is ready to receive your donations.  Please give generously, as this awful illness takes too many loved ones each year.  Every little counts.  Thank you.
