A good day for Ross-on-Wye BC with Tom Holmes winning the tournament and receiving a cheque for £1000 from our sponsor De Rose Wealth Management.

The Runner Up was a previous winner Scott Edwards (Westlecot BC) who collected £500. Another previous winner Nigel Cansdale was a beaten semi-finalists along with Cheltenham’s Stuart Hodges each receiving £250. Losing quarter finalists were Michael Woodbridge (Glos City) Anthony Cotton (Cheltenham BC) Michael Holmes and Shaun Jones (both from Ross-on-Wye BC).

 

 

The 7th Cheltenham Bowling Club Open Singles competition has now been drawn as per the attachment.

Cheltenham Open Singles 2022

The 6th Cheltenham Open Singles was won by the 2017 winner Scott Edwards (Westlecot BC)  who received a cheque for £1000 from tournament sponsor  Barron de Rose. The losing finalist Stuart Hodges (Cheltenham BC) was pipped on an extra end tie break and received a cheque for £500. Losing semi-finalists were Nathan Kitchen (Cheltenham BC) and Graham Phillips (Barnwood BC) who took home £250.  

 

Losing quarter finalists were Phil Luff (Porthcawl BC), Richard Osborne (Whitchurch BC), Dan Holmes (Ross on Wye BC) and Jason Sparkes (Bristol BC) who each received cheques for £50.

 

Cheltenham Open Singles 2021

Cheltenham Open Singles. Despite the weather the tournament was completed with Mark Royal (Rookery BC) taking the £1000 1st Prize and Cheltenham’s Alex White receiving the £400 Runners Up cheque. Losing semi finalists were Jack Grover (Fairford BC) and David Heath (Cheltenham) who each received a cheque for £200.

Losing quarter finalists were Rob Arthur (Tewkesbury BC), Martin Shepherd (Northwick BC), Nathan Kitchen (Cheltenham BC) and Michael Woodbridge (Huntly BC) who each received £40.  A collection for LINC in memory of Graham Griffiths raised £200.

Flooded twice during the tournament the greens made a remarkable recovery thanks to Avonmore Associates who had worked on the greens each day during the previous week. Our thanks to the tournament sponsor De Rose Wealth Management.

 

The 2021 Open Singles Tournament on Sunday 4 July has been reduced to 48 players to comply with Covid restrictions. Entry is closed.

COS21 will be dedicated to the memory of Graham Griffiths who was one of the COS founder organisers in 2015 and manned the reception desk in subsequent years. Sadly Graham passed away from Leukaemia in November.

Regrettably because of safeguarding restrictions we cannot reschedule the Cheltenham Open Singles Tournament without compromising this popular event. We plan to host the tournament again on 30 May 2021.

The 2017 Cheltenham Open Singles Tournament on 28 May attracted 56 entries from across 16 counties of England & Wales. The winner was Scott Edwards (Abingdon BC) who received the De Rose Wealth Management £1000 cheque from Club President Roger Hambidge.

The Runner Up was David Heath (Cheltenham BC) who received a cheque for £500.
